Andrea Merendi (Faenza, Italy, 1961) is a renowned designer, stylist and paper artist who has revisited his floral knowledge with a strong poetic streak to create bespoke paper flowers. In occasion of London Craft Week, he has partnered up with MADEINBRITALY conceiving a site-specific installation of ad hoc created still life compositions in dialogue with the gallery space. Andrea Merendi is indeed inspired by nature however he takes this inspiration to create completely innovative elements: his flowers are not just copies of natural flowers, they're brand new objects with their own life transcending a mere mimetic intention sharing with their natural counterparts the beauty and the crystalline perfection that only the transience of time can give.
